Job Title: Software Developer
Location: Bedford
Entitlement: 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holidays
ROLE:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and professional Software Developer to join our software development team
Their roles and responsibilities will be to:
- Provide software development for our Energy Manager application suite as well as several other systems including our Web Portal
- Take ownership of items at various stages of development and see them through to delivery
- Write efficient, robust and maintainable code in a timely manner
- Deliver high-quality software both internally and to our customers
- Fully test our solutions to production quality
- Submit and maintain changes to source code change control using GIT
- Ensure the continued operation of our internal systems
- Document and organise development in our JIRA issue tracking software
- Agree requirements with stakeholders, design, produce and agree prototype solutions
- Investigate causes of, and research solutions to technical issues
- Produce items of bespoke development for our customers
- Aid our support and service delivery team with complex and/or technical queries
- Identify and document areas for improvement in existing systems
- Plan for, test and perform software releases
- Work within our development standards and guidelines
- Help and assist other team members to ensure smooth delivery of projects and tasks
- Work to agreed targets

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
- 2 years Technical background in either Computer Science, Software Engineering and or Software programming and Development
- Experience of the full software life cycle: Analysis, design, coding, testing and maintenance.
- The ability to communicate complex procedures to colleagues
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the Energy Industry
- Experience of web services and JSON
- SQL Server and MS Access
- MS Excel and Office
- Knowledge and interest in computer systems and the latest technologies
- The ability to learn new technologies quickly
- An analytical mind, mathematical aptitude, problem-solving skills
- A minimum 2 years’ experience coding with the following technologies: VB.Net, ASP.Net, SQL, CSS, JavaScript and HTML
- Accuracy and attention to detail
