Arjan Geveke
Assistant Director of Energy Policy at Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Arjan Geveke is Assistant Director Energy Policy in the Energy Intensive Industries Team in the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy. He holds a MA in Public Policy and Public Administration from the University of Twente, The Netherlands, and an MSc in European Policy and Management from Birkbeck College, University of London, UK. He worked for the European Institute for Publication Administration and a research consultancy specialising in compliance management before he joined the Better Regulation Executive, Cabinet Office, in 2007. He moved into his current role in 2009. His main work areas include energy and climate change policies, with a focus on energy intensive industries, such as the paper & pulp sector.
Adam Sims
Power Responsive Manager at National Grid ESO
Adam Sims is the Power Responsive Manager for the Electricity System Operator in Great Britain. The Power Responsive campaign aims to support and engage with all types of distributed energy resource providers to facilitate their access to our balancing services and markets. Previously he has held roles responsible for driving fundamental redesign of balancing services and markets through the System Needs & Product Strategy (SNaPS) and Product Roadmap documents. He has 20 years of experience in the energy industry, previously working in technical, commercial and regulatory areas on both gas and electricity.
Professor Sam Fankhauser
Director, Grantham Research Institute at London School of Economics
Professor Sam Fankhauser is Director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics. As part of this role, he also directs the Centre for Climate Change Economics and Policy (CCCEP) and the Place-based Climate Action Network (PCAN), which are both funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Outside academia, Sam is a Non-Executive Director of CDC Group, the UK’s foremost development finance institution, and an Associate Director at economics consultancy Vivid Economics. He was an inaugural member of the UK Committee on Climate Change, on which he served from 2008 to 2016. Before joining LSE, Sam worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility. He has studied economics at the University of Berne (Switzerland), the London School of Economics and University College London.
Georgina Penfold

Georgina Penfold is one of the best-known and most-trusted voices in utilities management today. As a passionate advocate for energy consumers, George leads the Industrial and Commercial Operations Network, helping energy and estates management professionals access the tools and information they need to make life easier. This includes a strong focus on education and representation, helping consumers and suppliers respond to policy and regulatory changes and providing a coherent voice for energy consumers through proactive engagement with government and regulatory bodies.
Laura Sandys CBE
CEO at Challenging Ideas
She is a Senior Independent Director at SGN Network and the Energy Systems Catapult. She is Chair of the BEIS/Ofgem Energy System Data Taskforce. She was appointed as a member of the Advisory Panel for the Government’s Cost of Energy Review, and is on the Council for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage. She is founder of the Food Foundation and co-founder of POWERful Women, a Visiting Senior Fellow at Kings College, a member of the Carbon Tracker Advisory Board and Deputy Chair of the Food Standards Agency. She was previously a Member of Parliament for South Thanet, a member of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee, and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Energy and Climate Change. Described by The Times as ‘one of the sanest of all MPs’ and as ‘lateral-minded, original and free-thinking’.

Account Manager for SmartestEnergy, Owen Moulton is responsible for number of customer accounts and portfolios, ensuring SmartestEnergy meet individual customer requirements. He focuses on delivering excellent service and bringing new opportunities to add value for customers.
Alan Fordham
Commercial Director at SystemsLink
Alan is Commercial Director of SystemsLink where he is leading their continued growth with SystemsLink’s sophisticated software solutions. Alan has almost 20 years industry experience across several sectors of the industry, including senior positions at a major supplier, where he was responsible for clients such as Ford Motor Company, BAE Systems and Saint Gobain. Alan has vast experience working with Consultants and large customers with bespoke or complex requirements.
Alessandro Bossi
Business Development Manager at Inspired Energy
Alessandro began his career in Secondary Energy Metering, working with the solar, renewable and landlord markets. His ten-year career in the energy industry, nearly five of which has been at Inspired Energy, has mainly focused on Commercial Account Management of multi-site corporate and public sector organisations, and latterly business development in these core sectors.
Ben MacFarlane
Market Analyst at Inspired Energy
Ben brings a wealth of quantitative experience to the sector, having completed an Astrophysics Ph.D specialising in probabilistic numerical modelling. Ben affords insightful analysis of trends within global equity, FOREX and commodity markets, whilst developing cutting-edge risk management tools for flexible procurement strategies.
Bethany Howell
Water Analyst at Inspired Energy
Bethany specialises in analysing business water invoices and usage in order to identify cost-savings and efficiency opportunities. Beth is also a qualified PRINCE 2 practitioner with a passion for exceptional customer service.
Bridget Legg
Client Optimisation Manager at Inspired Energy
Bridget holds a BEng in Renewable Energy Systems and Research Development. She is an accredited CIBSE ESOS Lead Assessor and CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant.
Chris Tarr
Director: Water Services at Inspired Energy
Chris Tarr, Director of Water Services has over 14 years’ experience within the water sector working with multiple sectors including large retailers, NHS, transport and manufacturing; his extensive knowledge of water is second to none.
Claire Markham
Director: Sustainability & Renewable Energy at Inspired Energy
Claire has amassed over 25 years’ experience in the energy industry – and added a Master’s degree in Engineering & Design Management along the way. Claire has undertaken investment grade studies for a wide range of sustainable technologies. Her experience also includes managing the energy trading needs of a portfolio of renewable energy assets.
Dorian Lucas
Energy Risk Manager at Inspired Energy
Dorian has devised and implemented bespoke trading strategies for some of the UK’s largest businesses. He holds a qualification from the STA which enables him to provide an in-depth view of wholesale energy prices across the UK and Europe.
Emma Hird
Client Optimisation Manager at Inspired Energy
Emma is an accomplished Client Optimisation Manager and a CIBSE qualified Low Carbon Consultant, ESOS Lead Assessor, and Heat Networks Consultant. She has personally managed CRC compliance for over 20 corporate clients since the start of Phase2, as well as taking a lead role in developing ESOS Phase 1 and SECR compliance services.
Gareth Evans
Director: Cost Recovery at Inspired Energy
Gareth is an energy & telecoms specialist with over 25 years’ experience within the sector including co-founding two successful start-up businesses. Gareth has worked with many large organisations with complex estates to recover refunds from billing inaccuracies and facilitate ongoing savings for our clients.

With a background in energy management, Georgina has over 10 years’ experience of delivering compliant and pragmatic carbon reduction solutions. A well-known industry commentator, Georgina has been described by clients as “one of the most trusted voices in the utilities sector today” and is actively involved in improvement discussions with BEIS, Ofgem and DNOs.
Jamie Tabord

With over 12 years' experience in the delivery of energy services relating to infrastructure and environmental subsidies. Jamie's background includes retrospective auditing of utility invoices.
Laura Clare Davies
Client Optimisation Manager at Inspired Energy
With over 13 years industry experience, Laura specialises in renewable and sustainable technologies and energy management. Laura works closely with clients across many sectors and funding providers to develop capex-free solutions for technologies such as Biomass, CHP systems, Solar PV, EVs and Heat Pumps. She also assists with SECR delivery and ESOS implementation work. Laura has taken hundreds of projects from concept to completion, resulting in financial and carbon savings well into the millions.
Marie Horsfall

Marie has been working in the energy industry for 8 years - specialising in metering and siteworks. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
Matthew Dowdeswell
Innovation Manager at Inspired Energy
Matthew is an accomplished innovation manager with over 20 years’ experience within the energy and telecoms sector. Understanding client needs has been fundamental to his role of product development. Matthew is currently studying in his final year of a MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technologies at Loughborough University.
Matt Ireland
Finance Director at Inspired Energy
Matt is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with 12 years’ experience. His focus at Inspired Energy plc's has been aligning the business and financial strategy for a group which has grown predominantly through acquisition, as well as ensuring compliance with financial regulations, including SECR.
Mark Dickinson
CEO at Inspired Energy
Mark Dickinson is CEO of Inspired Energy plc. Mark is an energy consultancy specialist with over 20 years’ experience of developing and advising companies in the sector. Mark was CEO of M&C Energy Group where he led the buy and build strategy completing four acquisitions before selling the company to Schneider Electric in 2012. He brings significant industry knowledge and has a Masters in Finance from the London Business School where he was voted Accomplished Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012.
Nick Campbell

Nick has managed flexible energy procurement solutions for some of the largest organisations in the UK, specialising in market analysis, energy trading and strategy. He is a frequent media commentator in leading national publications, has a Masters in Energy and is FCA accredited.
Robbie Howlett
Energy & Environment Manager at Inspired Energy
Robbie has worked in the energy industry for over 12 years in the design and delivery of technical services to support clients with carbon reduction goals, energy management and legislative requirements. Robbie has supported business across all sectors, ranging from large manufacturing companies, to schools and hospitals.
Rob Leak
Head of Energy Solutions at Inspired Energy
Head of Energy Solutions, Rob successfully manages a team of energy consultants responsible for delivering energy solutions and compliance services, including ESOS, CCAs, CRC and now SECR. He has been providing independent utilities advice and support to businesses for over 25 years, specialising in onsite generation along with energy and carbon reduction projects.
Wayne Brown

Wayne has almost 20 years’ industry experience including working for the some of the UK’s largest energy suppliers. He has a background in business development, helping structure bespoke energy solutions for larger businesses. In his current role he works in collaboration with strategic external partners.
